Another data point. I've used Shell Rotella T6 5W40 in my last four motorcycles (1992 Kawasaki Concours; 1993 Kawasaki ZX-11 Ninja; 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale; and my current bike a 2003 BMW R1150RT "oilhead"). I began using the Rotella late on the Concours, but I sold it with 172,000 miles and it was still running great with a great leak-down test and used no oil. I used the Rotella exclusively the entire 17,000 plus miles on the ZX-11. I used it exclusively for the 50,000 plus miles I put on the Royale. I have almost 150,000 miles on the BMW (130K are my miles) and it's all been on the Rotella. Although BMW recommends 20W50 or 15W50 oil (such as their BMW oil or Mobil1 or whatever), the BMW has operated well with 5000-mile interval oil drains and new filter each time. It has great cold-start cranking when the temps are below 10 degF, temperatures which I have rode in many times. I had a leak-down test conducted two years ago, with 8% left and 12% right. Those are outstanding numbers for the approximately 125,000 miles the bike had at the time. I have toured in very hot weather, no problems. The only possible caution is that the Rotella may have some effect on catalytic converters. Do your homework, but if your bike is a non-cat exhaust system, you'll be OK.
